Restoration and Retouching

Retouching means the photo is in good condition, but needs to by optimized or enhanced.

Restoration means the photo has been physically damaged, or has suffered from storage or age.

Based on our assessment of your photos, we'll work with you to determine what level of work (Light or Heavy) is necessary.

Prices listed on our Order page are per final image.

Retouch Services include:

  • Removing Color Casts
  • Improving Color Saturation
  • Sharpening
  • Enhancing Global & Local Contrast
  • Improving Brightness
  • Optimizing Quarter, Mid, and 3/4-tones
  • Correcting or Replacing Color on items such as eye/hair/clothing
  • Color-B&W Conversion (many styles available)
  • Darkening Edges
  • Faux frames
  • Other Special Effects on Request

Restoration Services include any necessary Retouch service mentioned above, plus:

  • Fixing Fades, Tears or Stains
  • Re-building missing elements lost due to damage
  • Eliminating People (from photos!)
  • Adding People
  • Apparent weight reduction (Yes, Virginia, there is a 30-lb filter!)
  • Other services as required / requested

In both cases above, a Panorama counts as 1 image, even though it may consist of many stitched images.

All retouched and restored photos are also place on an archival DVD delivered to you with your order.

Prints, Slides, or Negatives sent to us for Retouching or Restoration will be scanned at No Charge if a Print of the image is ordered.
